Where It All Began
In 1989, as Hungary stood on the threshold of a new era, one family made a decision: they would go for it. Not with capital, not with connections – but with knowledge, hard work and a deeply rooted belief that quality always finds its way.
The first chapter was about geese. Goose feather processing and export – that was the foundation. Not a glamorous industry, but an extraordinarily precise one. The quality of a feather comes down to millimetre-level differences. Those who learn to work in this field learn something fundamental: details are not small things. Details are everything.
That mindset lives in the DNA of this company to this day.
The Japanese Emperor’s Pillow
There is a story we tell quietly – but we do tell it, because it is true.
The Japanese Emperor slept on a pillow filled with down that came from our factory.
This is not a marketing line. It is not an exaggeration. The Japanese market is one of the most demanding in the world – especially when it comes to premium down products. That a Hungarian family business supplied goose down to the Japanese imperial court was not an accident. It was the consequence of quality.
This is the legacy the second generation inherited.
The New Chapter – The Slaughterhouse
A few years ago, the family made a bold decision: they would invest in a slaughterhouse. They purchased and completely transformed the facility in Pusztamérges – a small village in the heart of the Hungarian Great Plain.
But they didn’t just want a slaughterhouse. They wanted to do something different. Something better.
The decision was made: they would slaughter exclusively according to halal standards. Not partially. Not a “halal section” alongside conventional products. One hundred percent, without compromise.
In Hungary, this is unique. It still is today – we remain the only slaughterhouse in the country that produces exclusively halal certified meat, with zero mixing with conventionally slaughtered products.
Why Halal?
Because halal is not merely a religious requirement – it is a quality philosophy. A healthy animal, humane treatment, clean slaughter, rigorous oversight. Precisely the values this family has worked by for decades.
Our certifying body is the IIDC – one of the strictest halal certification organisations in the world. We also hold an IFS certification, one of the highest international standards for food safety. These are not easy to obtain. And they are not easy to maintain.
Today
Today we process primarily duck – the premium poultry whose halal version is increasingly sought after across Europe. We also process chicken and pigeon. Fresh and frozen. For the Hungarian market and for export – to Italy, Spain, Belgium, neighbouring countries and indirectly to the United Kingdom as well.
Our manufacturing-style facility combines the most modern equipment with a significant human presence. Because quality cannot be fully automated. Quality requires attention. Presence. Responsibility.
And those things cannot be programmed into a machine.
What Comes Next
Our farm shop at the slaughterhouse is opening soon – where you can buy directly from us. Our webshop is under development, and we are building a collection point network along the Szeged–Budapest route, so that premium quality halal meat is accessible wherever it is needed.
Because we believe that good food is not a privilege. It is a choice.
